Our Story

“What’s the most effective way to nourish a community — balancing health, logistics, economics, and the environment?”

That question sparked everything. With a background in maths, computing, professional cooking, and natural health, Chris Taylor set out to build a better way to eat. Personal health struggles, including a spinal injury and leaky gut, made the mission personal. The prototype launched as Fit n Fed at Industrial Fitness in Queenstown — and the results spoke for themselves.

Using fresh, whole ingredients and balanced macros, the system worked — for elite athletes chasing performance, for everyday people looking to feel better, and for those managing chronic health issues. It was efficient. It was scalable. And most importantly, it worked. That laid the foundation for what is now Real Food Kitchen.

We believe food is the first medicine. And we believe most people want to eat well — they just need a system that’s practical, affordable, and doesn’t sacrifice flavour. That’s why our meals are designed to fit into your life, not take it over. They're macro-balanced, made with seasonal local produce, and inspired by global flavours. Chicken, rice, and veg becomes Chicken Tikka Masala with Pilau. Same fuel — more joy.

New Zealand grows world-class ingredients, but access and waste are major problems. We want to change that. One central kitchen, zero waste, fewer supermarket trips, and no power wasted cooking at home. It's a small shift — but it adds up.
